Mother of twins celebrating recovery
“I’m not the only one who went through things. They also went through things,” Megan explains. “We went through it together, so we can heal together.”
Megan, a mother of twins, is celebrating over a year and a half of sobriety in June. She completed her first official semester of college in June and is working toward earning her license as an alcohol and drug counselor (LADC).

Mia celebrates reaching recovery and strengthening relationship with her daughter
“That I could include my children in my recovery and not be separated from them for such a long period of time, it gave me hope. It gave me something to hold on to.”
This June, Mia will celebrate three years of sobriety and two years since completing Avivo’s recovery programs. She’s proud to be living in stable housing while working as a kitchen manager and sous chef at a local restaurant and reflects on her recovery journey, including significant obstacles she had to overcome.

Avivo’s Mental Health Clinic fills gap in access for services and meets increased demand for diverse practitioners
“At Avivo’s Mental Health Clinic we offer advanced services to Avivo participants who might be enrolled in other services at Avivo and who might have a very limited income or no income at all … It’s a holistic approach, where someone can get help for anything they need all at once, that makes Avivo unique.”
Avivo is excited to announce the grand reopening of their Mental Health Clinic, a clinic which strives to provide diverse mental health practitioners to people in diverse communities. Now with eight staff, the clinic is expanding access to new locations in the Twin Cities and accepting new participants.

Volunteer mobilizes community support, helping people moving out of homelessness
“When you host families [experiencing homelessness], it is like sharing humanity,” tells Kat. “It left its mark on me.”
Kat Vann (pictured on the right) coordinated a donations drive of household and hygiene items for residents moving into Bimosedaa, new affordable housing developed to serve Native Americans experiencing homelessness.

A lifetime of giving makes a difference!
“I want to help students in financial need to achieve their educational goals. I also want to help people who struggle with homelessness and poverty. I like that at Avivo people have options to get help they need with housing and jobs.”
Mary and John Jelinek’s support for Avivo is very personal. They’ve been giving to Avivo and its related recovery programs for more than 20 years. Their son had struggled with alcohol and drugs and went through treatment several times before achieving sobriety.
