2023 Adopt-A-Family program provides gifts to a record number of families

Avivo’s Adopt-A-Family program was one for the record books in 2023, serving more families than ever! Thanks to nearly 300 generous donors, many who adopted multiple families, we were able to provide holiday gifts to more than 1,600 individuals and 500 families in Avivo’s programs.

“It can be difficult for many families in Avivo’s programs to afford things many consider basic necessities,” shares Brittany Biggers, Avivo’s Director of Volunteer Services. “That makes purchasing gifts for their kiddos hard, or for some, impossible.”

Brittany shares that this year was especially emotionally powerful. One donor was brought to tears when they saw the quantity of gifts donated. This year, more than 2,000 total gifts filled Avivo locations, often towering close to the ceiling in rooms in which they were stored.

“We love breaking Adopt-A-Family records at Avivo. When we set a new record it means we helped even more people and families … Some of the people who received gifts were so moved by the gifts they elected to send thank you cards to donors, which really shows how valuable this program is.”
