Adopt-A-Family program prepares to spread cheer to hundreds of families in Avivo’s programs

The holiday season might seem far away, but Avivo’s Adopt-A-Family holiday giving program is ramping up. Avivo’s Adopt-A-Family program matches families who are currently participating in an Avivo program with donors who anonymously provide gifts for the holidays. In 2022, the program provided more than 2,000 gifts for 400 families, setting a new record.

This year the program is expanding to serve an additional 100 families in the St. Cloud metro area who benefit from Avivo’s family and employment services.

“When putting food on the table and keeping a roof over your head uses every dollar, giving gifts to your children is often out of reach,” shares Brittany Biggers, Avivo director of volunteer services.

“When putting food on the table and keeping a roof over your head uses every dollar, giving gifts to your children is often out of reach,” shares Brittany Biggers, Avivo director of volunteer services. “Thanks to the generosity of donors in the Twin Cities and now in St. Cloud, those families are still able to provide gifts to their children and to each other.”

“For Hanukkah when I was young, my parents purchased gifts for other children which taught me what the holiday season was all about,” shares Sarah Raleigh, Avivo Adopt-A-Family donor. “Now, with my children, it is a chance to help them learn what the season is about, and it’s a meaningful way for us to give to our community.”

Registration is open now for donors to be matched with families and will remain open until October 27. Depending on how many individuals a donor chooses to support, they will be matched with one or more families. Donors may register online through the Adopt-A-Family web page.

“We’re excited to have an expanded reach for the program this year,” shares Brittany. “We’re hoping for another record, because that’ll mean a record number of families experience the generosity of our community.”

Donors who register for Adopt-A-Family will be matched with families the second week of November. If you have questions, please contact Brittany at adoptafamily@avivomn.org
