Avivo Village Central Minnesota to serve adults experiencing homelessness in St. Cloud and Tri-County Area

Avivo Village Central Minnesota will bring the nationally recognized success of Avivo’s Avivo Village North Loop in Minneapolis to the heart of Central Minnesota. Rooted in Avivo’s values of radical welcome, absolute dignity, and curiosity, the project marks a powerful step toward addressing unsheltered homelessness in the region.
“In St. Cloud and across the Tri-County area, more and more of our neighbors are living unsheltered,” said Kelly Matter, President and CEO of Avivo. “We are profoundly thankful for the leadership and commitment to serving some of the most vulnerable community members. We especially thank the Minnesota Legislature and the Minnesota Department of Human Services’ Homelessness, Housing and Support Services Administration for their vision and partnership in making this project possible.”
Avivo Village Central Minnesota will provide:
- 48 private dwellings with common spaces for services and activities
- Outdoor areas for recreation, pet care, and gathering
- 24/7 security and on-site advocates, housing case managers, and support staff
- Wrap-around services including health care, mental health, and recovery supports
- Sustainable construction with high energy efficiency and renewable energy, following LEED guidelines
From Vision to Reality:
Community leaders began working in late 2022 to bring the Avivo Village model to St. Cloud. The project is made possible by $7.65 million in state funding awarded by the Minnesota State Legislature, administered through the Minnesota Department of Human Services’ Homelessness, Housing and Support Services Administration, plus additional city and federal resources, and a long-term lease agreement with the City of St. Cloud for the project site.
About Avivo Village:
The Avivo Village model created by Avivo is a low-barrier shelter offering secure, private rooms and wrap-around services. Residents are welcomed with dignity, may bring pets and belongings, and receive individualized support on their path from unsheltered homelessness to permanent housing. The expansion to Central Minnesota is possible thanks to funding awarded by the Minnesota State Legislature and administered by the Minnesota Department of Human Services’ Homelessness, Housing and Support Services Administration.
