What is Avivo Village?

Avivo Village is a first-ever, indoor community of 100 “tiny houses,” secure, private dwellings that provides shelter and wraparound services to individuals experiencing unsheltered homelessness.

The Model

Designed alongside people living in encampments, Avivo Village reimagines shelter as a place of dignity, choice, and stability—where people are supported on their own terms.

  • PRIVACY & SECURITY: A locking door with a space to sleep, think, and decompress.
  • CHOICE: The option to come and go and decide when to take a break.
  • LOW-BARRIER ACCESS: Reduces barriers to entering shelter to reach people with the highest acuities.
  • EMBEDDED SERVICES: Support available on-site, when someone is ready—not weeks later. Addressing physical, chemical, and mental health needs

Desha's Story

“I have two kids, so I have to show them that no matter what life throws at you, you can always come out on top.”

When Desha arrived at Avivo Village, she had spent nearly six years without stable housing—living in her car and working temporary jobs to survive.

At Avivo, she found stability, support, and a community that did not give up on her.  “It is a place where you can grow, and you can heal… Whenever you feel like giving up, they got you.”

With that support, she completed workforce training, earned certification, and enrolled in school.  Today, she is in permanent housing and rebuilding her life.
